It was a joy working on this mindfulness and meditation guide with Llewellyn Worldwide Publishers and many of their talented authors. There are a plethora of useful ideas and lifestyle techniques you can begin to implement today to bring greater consciousness into the everyday. In addition to being the “host” of the book, I also wrote about introductory mindfulness practices and their measurable effect on the brain and nervous system (Chapter 1).
The chapter I wrote with Bob Butera, PhD, on “Mindfulness for Sleep and Physical Relaxation” will support many people in getting more rest while my piece relating “Mindfulness and Illness, Chronic Conditions, and Pain Relief” (Chapter 9) is especially close to my heart, as it features not only clear ways you can cope with (or even remove) chronic pain, but also an excerpt written by one a longtime, loyal member of our therapeutic yoga community in Ontario.
